TOPIC: Has someone experienced this?

Has someone experienced this? 3 years 2 months ago #82341

Could anyone help me with a question about my PT cruiser?

I have a lot of rust on my back right side roof top above the passenger door, *note: not the door.

I requested that Chrysler look into this as I believe it is a manufacturers problem as I keep my car immaculate.

It is a 2003 Tourer and it's probably because of the year which is why they do not want to help me with it!

I have 2 PT Cruisers in the family and not a spot of rust has appeared on the other and that's almost 10 years old. We are in NSW on the Northern Beaches if anyone can help nearby?

So my question is, "Has anyone else had this rust problem in the roof of your PT Cruiser or know of anyone?"

Many thanks.
Anna

Hi Anna,

We have a couple of "pimples" in our roof on the passenger side front.
They are typical of what happens when there is slight surface rust underneath.
They are however very minor (the size of a match head) and have not changed at
all in 6 years, and they have not damaged the clear-coat therefore no other damage.
Ours is also a 2003. I have never really bothered about them- the car is also usually very
well looked after. It was a south coast car before we bought it, but I think that our problem
came from the factory as yours most probably did as well.
Chrysler will definitely not want to ave anything to do with it (too old).
It doesn't take much to start things going wrong with the paint, particularly when the problem is foreign
matter in or under the coats. Maybe get a local paint shop/panel beater to have a look- depending
on how particular you are there are some very good workshops in Artarmon.

Cheers.
