TOPIC: Deactivate Alarm 2007 Convertible

Deactivate Alarm 2007 Convertible 5 months 2 weeks ago #83320

Ive just purchased this car and unlike my old 2005 model has a built in alarm that i want to deactivate..ive been on many forums reading answers to the same question and they all refer to using the key or codes to program or cutting wires etc...only one or two ppl have suggested pulling the fuse. I did pull the fuse and the alarm is now deactivated however now im concerned this solution was not the right one because so few suggested it as an option...could something else go wrong with the car that im not considering? It starts..i can drive it but i havent driven far in case the engine cuts out on me..

Sorry I can't help you with your dilemma but later on possibly a few others may help with some input.
Now that you have asked make sure you log back in each day to see if anybody has offered some help.

Something you'll need to consider carefully if you ever leave the vehicle with the top down while you're out and about... as it's to cover people reaching inside / unlocking and opening doors / etc...
To me it's a little bit of piece of mind to walk away from the car without having to close the roof every time you stop to do something on a day outing... :)

Of course Dean, that makes perfect sense.
I didn't see the heading stating it was a convertible.
Removing the fuse would obviously activate a type of immobiliser.
Your manual should have instructions on deactivating the alarm.
Or as you said originally, change the codes.
These will cost a few dollars but it is also the correct way to do it.
Most mechanic would be able to tell you this, I did say "most"

Not much better than the sensor in the petrol cap................................

I must admit neither did I.
Not sure if I'd agree with the "most mechanics" bit though!.....apart from most trying to hide from the Cruiser...lol.
Annnyway....let's keep this post positive and on topic.

Who ever suggested too remove the fuse was obviously not a mechanic that's for certain.
But the again, I'm not and that's probably one of the reasons I left this post alone,
Until Deans comment and I realised it was a Cabrio in question.
and the motion alarm they have,
I would think the manual would have instructions for this. As would "most" Chrysler mechanic.
That is what I was referring too, Most Chrysler mechanics would know this.
My Hyundai has a lock activation on the car when it is moving, all doors lock.
None will unlock unless the driver unlocks or removes the key from the ignition
This can be deactivated by pressing the key fob buttons in a sequence described in the manual.
Or a Hyundai mechanic.
