TOPIC: Console Warning Lights are on - help pls

Console Warning Lights are on - help pls 6 months 2 weeks ago #84164

Greetings all,

I'm brand new to this group and am desperately in need of some advice so I can get my Cruiser a roadworthy certificate.
The issue is this, the TRAC OFF and ABS lights are illuminated on the console.
I recently replaced the CV's, brake rotors, pads & shoes, all wheel bearings, lower ball joints and the tie rod ends on my 2001 2.0 Classic.
Mechanically all is great but the warning lights are still on on the console.
Has anyone else experienced this before and if so how does it get fixed?
This is the only thing holding me back from getting a roadworthy certificate.
Can anyone please advise a fix for this?

Thanks Muchly!!!

Nikko

Hi and welcome. I can't help you directly as I haven't experienced that before.
A couple of the guys my pop on later this evening that have had to do more to their cars than I so they may be able to help. Or the power of google!
Not knowing what area you are from also makes it difficult to direct you to some local help but in the meantime you could look up - www.bleam.com.au in Qld and then phone Allan there. He's a switched on guy and knows the car like no other. Just let him know you got his contact through this forum. He does mechanical work and parts supply.

You'll need to let him know when these lights came on....before or after fitting those components you mentioned.

I meant to mention that I thought you could switch the Traction Control off or on on the earlier models . I don't think physically by a switch as such but a procedure through the ignition....I think. Could be in your manual. Maybe the light comes on when it is off being a safety device.
ABS might be because you have bleed the brakes and the unit needs to be reset!

Thanks for the feedback so far.
I should explain further...
Before I replaced the parts neither the Trac Off or ABS lights would stay on after engine ignition (just on startup).
After replacing the parts with new cv's, rotors & brakes the Trac Off & ABS lights stay on. Its this issue thats causing the headaches...just don't know what to do to resolve it...I'm sure there is a simple fix...and of course, lights on means no roadworthy...
I'm near Kingaroy QLD, recently moved from Darwin, NT and found this 5/2001 Cruiser. I've always wanted one and am soooo close to finishing...just need to sort these lights out.
I've tried the disconnect battery fix...no go.
I've tried a OBD but doesn't register an issue.
Hopefully one of you knowledgeable owners will be able to help!

Thx!

Don't forget to click onto that website I left and get Allan's mobile number. You might get an answer straight away.
I'm kinda thinking something is open circuited...you may have not connected something correctly. Go through all the electrical connections that you may have disturbed.
