I can see a small round light fitting just inside the trunk / rear door on the right side....but I can find no way to turn it on. ??
And am I the only person to have difficulty to get the jack into that compartment "looks as if it should have been just that little larger"...and is the tool for lowering the spare tire also a wheel wrench ?
Thanks again
Chris...

It should come on with the interior lights. If the interior light isn't working you may have the switch turned to far on the headlight switch .
Shouldn't be any real problem fitting the jack......unless yours is a non genuine one! Generally I nice fit.

And yes it should be the same wrench and it also operates the jack, but again we don't know what wheels are now fitted to your car if the wheel nuts have been changed.

Could be fuse as well. Test the console power socket, at the front of the shifter leaver. This runs on the same fuse.

Jack has to be fully wound down and goes in side ways, with feet against the wheel well. It has the bag still? Both jack and wrench and tow hook should fir in snuggly so they don't rattle.

Yes Chris, it's the folding wheel wrench that comes supplied with the car.

I have checked the wiring to find that the fuse is OK but looks as if power is not getting to the rear power point / light . I 'm thinking that this may be account of the wiring " cluster " in the jack compartment .It looks a little vunarable to being moved when removing the jack. I'm going to protect the wiring with a piece of semi rigid plastic .
I find it a little strange to have a wheel brace with a pivot point that will be taking a great strain when in use....but I'm sure it will be OK

If memory serves me correctly Chris, there are 2 fuses protecting this circuit. (one under the dash, the other under the bonnet).
Somewhere on this forum is a link to a workshop manual complete with wiring diagrams.
