Travelled alongside & behind this yesterday on Victoria Road, between Ermington and West Ryde.

The amount of heads it turned, in other cars and even from kids (including girls) walking along the footpath was incredible!!

The press release says-

Sydney\'s Harbourside Local Area Command has taken delivery of a Porsche Panamera, provided by Porsche Australia.

Powered by the humblest of the Panamera\'s engine choices, the 3.7 litre VW-sourced V6, the supercar is less of a highway patrol monster and more of an eye-catcher for the local young people.

\"The Porsche gives us a chance to talk to kids on an informal basis outside the legal system in the hope that we can influence them and help them make a positive contribution to society,” Superintendent Alan Sicard said.

It\'s no slouch, of course, with a 0-100km/h time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 259km/h - but it isn\'t a great deal quicker than the SS Commodores most favoured by the NSW Highway Patrol.

The real purpose of the Panamera is to act as a community liaison vehicle with the Crime Management Unit
.

“This is the first time we’ve made available a Porsche to any police force in Australia and the curiosity factor alone of a Panamera in police decals should help the NSW Police achieve awareness and engage people in its community programs,” Michael Winkler, Porsche Cars Australia\'s MD said.

The car is on loan for six months, although Porsche Cars Australia said the loan will go a further six months if the police are happy with the halo effect they\'re seeking.

Personally I think that the Panamera is an ugly Porsche (along with the Cayenne), but in Police strip it was certainly a head turner!

Parramatta Motor group Donated a PT for the same purposes several years ago
Also had Chrisco singage(small) along the back
Last I heard the PT was sent to Orange over 2-3 years ago

Before the Porsche I think they had an RX8

Have heard about the PT- I think that it was last seen in Lithgow.

Saw the RX8 around the Liverpool area a few times a few years back.
